District Governor - Ken Gatehouse
Ken is a charter member of the Lions Club of Sorell which was formed 36 years ago. He has served on the club board in all positions except Secretary. He has had 3 terms as President. He has been honored with a Melvin Jones Fellowship and James D. Richardson award by his club and a Commendation from International President Al Brandel. He is a certified Guiding Lion. His community involvement has included - President of the Sorell School Parents and Friends Association, Coach for Aussie Rules Junior Football, President of the Sorell Bowls Club, Life Member of the Royal Agricultural Society and is a Director of the Show Council. Ken has been married to Lion Dawn for 42 years. They have three sons and 5 grandchildren.. He has spent all his life farming part of the land granted to his great-grandfather. To supplement the farm income he has worked in many part- time positions mostly with the management of livestock. Because of his practical background, he especially values Lions projects which allow for hands-on working together.
